Psychotherapy Services

I maintain a small private practice in addition to my work as a Trauma Trainer and Educator. I am accepting a limited number of new clients for virtual services. Home based services available on a very limited basis depending on location.

I will provide professional expertise in a warm and personal manner in order to maximize your experience and make the most of your investment in our time together. I have a wide variety of approaches and will tailor the approach to suit your need, not the other way around. If you are considering services for your child, be assured I have extensive experience with children of all ages, including youth resistant to therapy and/or court involved.

Specialized Trauma Care. The Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) is an approach to clinical work that incorporates key principles of neurodevelopment into the clinical problem-solving process.

I have over 12 years experience working with Dr. Bruce Perry as a mentor and trainer in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT). I am the only Phase III Clinician in the greater NYC area certified by the Neurosequential Network. I am also a trained EMDR Clinician. I have extensive experience with children, families and adults specializing in complex and developmental trauma as well as with youth with problem sexual behaviors.

NMT METRIC ASSESSMENT, aka Brain Map, is the primary tool which provide a semi structured assessment of important developmental experiences, good and bad, and a current “picture” of brain organization and functioning. From this tool estimates of relative risk, resilience and brain mediated strengths and weaknesses can be derived. This information can aid the clinician in the ongoing therapeutic process.

LOOKING BEYOND THE CHECKLIST OF ADVERSE CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES (ACE'S):

This presentation will focus on how Adverse Childhood Experiences creates chronic activation of our stress response system, and the long-term health and societal impacts of toxic stress. Learn how to recognize the difference between a 'lack of will vs. a lack of skill' in the behaviors of children and how our interactions and responses can create a relational contagion of vulnerability, relational impoverishment and secondary trauma for professionals and youth alike. 2 hour presentation recommended

THE NURTURED HEART APPROACH

Nurtured Heart Approach®(NHA) created by Howard Glasser, is a strength’s based, relationship focused methodology founded strategically in “The 3 Stands™” for helping children (and adults) build Inner Wealth™ and use their intensity in successful ways. It has become a powerful way of awakening the inherent greatness in all children while facilitating parenting and classroom success. The essence of NHA is a set core of methodologies originally developed for working with the most difficult children. It has a proven impact on every child, including those who are challenged behaviorally, socially, and academically! 6 hour training to be certified in the NHA Model. Parent/Caregivers training. 8 hours total. (to be completed in 2 hour increments over the course of 4 weeks in order to allow for practice and support of model implementation.)

CONNECTIONS MATTER

Connections Matter is a community-based initiative that explores how the connections we make in life profoundly impact our brain's ability to grow and our own individual abilities to cope and thrive. Through our workshops and trainings, we educate the public on the intersecting topics of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, brain development, and resilience. We utilize an evidence-informed program, along with real-world and concrete examples, to demonstrate how ACEs adversely affect brain development and health outcomes - and how caring connections serve as a primary buffer in the negative effects of trauma. Connections Matter ultimately strives to promote the building of more resilient, compassionate, and trauma-informed communities - thus allowing all children and individuals to succeed. 4 hour training. Can be broken down to 2 sessions. You can view a brief, 20-minute recorded webinar here or a 30 second clip here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDWQnEvWO-c&t=5s

THE CORE CURRICULUM ON CHILDHOOD TRAUMA: ENHANCING TRAUMA INFORMED KNOWLEDGE THROUGH INTERACTIVE CASE CONCEPTUALIZATION

The mission of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Core Curriculum on Childhood Trauma is to raise the standard of care nationwide for youth and families who have experienced trauma by raising the standard of education and training in core principles of childhood traumatic stress for their care providers. The Core Curriculum uses a strength-based approach that encourages learners to emphasize supportive factors and positive outcomes as strongly as risk factors and negative outcomes. Participants will apply the 12 Core Concepts as conceptual lenses to frame information and guide critical reasoning about the case study and identify ecological factors hypothesized to influence children’s traumatic experiences and contribute to their post-traumatic adjustment. 4 hour minimum. Variety of cases available to choose from. For more information about CCCT. https://www.nctsn.org/resources/core-curriculum-on-childhood-trauma-an-introduction-and-overview
